Flight of the Conchords Debut Album

I am a huge fan of the New Zealand comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are geniuses and bring to the table a refreshing creativity that makes life much more fascinating. As absurd as it may sound, their music makes it much easier to understand the world we live in, and if everyone took the time to listen to this album, the world would be a better place. People just need to be able to poke fun at themselves!

While I do enjoy the HBO show, I much prefer their stand up, as I believe, for the most part, their songs work best when the listener can visualize their lyrics in their head. The next best thing to stand-up video is stand-up audio, and on April 22, Sub Pop will be releasing a full-length Flight of the Conchords self-titled album for your listening pleasure. Our friend at Jonk Music put together a great post that shows the track-listing for the new album, plus links to each song as seen in the show.

Thanks to Jonk Music, here is the track-listing plus video links. Go to his site to see all the video links:

  1. These guys are fantastic. I got the season 1 dvd for my birthday, and I was so bummed when I got to the end.

It’s so odd and cool that Sub Pop is releasing their record…

  2. Awesome!!
Their humor is very unique but once you get it, it’s extremely rewarding and crazy witty.
I also prefer stand up to their show, although their deadpans are spot on

  3. dannyspkrspkr,

Definitely agree about sub pop. They have released some other comedy albums such as David Cross and Eugene Mirmam (who is actually in FOTC as the landlord). It’s definitely cool they are releasing this album though.

    Janice,

“Their humor is very unique but once you get it, it’s extremely rewarding and crazy witty.”

couldn’t have said it better myself.

    David

  4. The first time I heard these guys was when my brother showed me “Jenny”
It’s so hillarious! I can’t decide which song is my favorite. I really like “Albi the Racist Dragon” too.
Hah, I’m glad to see them on indiemuse. :P

  5. Much as I love the show itself, I don’t really find myself listening to the studio versions of their songs anywhere near as much as the live versions. I miss all the little ad-libs. Like in the studio version of “Robots”, they don’t use the term “robros.” And that is a delightful word… but yeah. Excellent show.

It’s my fourth most favourite New Zealand musical / comedy.

  6. Shannon,

Jenny is one of my favorites, too.

    Jonk,

    No, YOU da man.

    Alie,

Haha. I agree. I like live much better. Their HBO stand-up show was the best.

They are my third most favourite New Zealand musical / comedy so I guess I’m a better fan than you, sorry (I don’t agree with them).

  7. I’m a Jermaniac!!!

Just kidding, but this band is my new obsession!

    love you guys!
