Cut Copy – “Feel The Love”

Cut Copy’s newly released album, In Ghost Colours, may not be perfect, but it could be worse. At least there is one good song on the album. Which also happens to be the first track. That one track, “Feel The Love” is catchy and has been stuck in my head this past week. Now I know that sounds harsh, saying there is only ONE good song on the album out of 15 tracks (that’s 6.667 percent). But all I’m saying is that if the band was able to match the quality of their first track for the rest of the 14 songs, I would definitely be feelin the love for this album.

Check out “Feel The Love,” and if you like it, sample the rest of their music. I’m not that into Dance music in the first place, so maybe I’m way off on this one. They do seem to have great reviews on iTunes. As for me, I’ll be sticking with track number one.

Cut Copy is based out of Melbourne, Australia and includes band members Dan Whitford, Tim Hoey, and Mitchell Scott. The project was started by Whitford back in 2001, and the band is signed to Modular Recordings.

  1. I listened to cut copy’s last album I dunno wasn’t that impressed. Is a band really worth listening to if you only like one of their songs?

  2. Jacob,

I thought about that before posting. I couldn’t decide if I should post a song off an album I didn’t care for too much. I ultimately chose in favor of posting, as I thought “Feel the Love” was worth checking out, regardless of the rest of the album. At the end of the day, I don’t really look at what we do on Indie Muse as “critiquing” music. I look at it more as a recommendation service, where we promote bands that people with similar music tastes are likely going to enjoy. That’s the real goal. We try to keep the site positive, with no band bashings, so I wanted to make sure that people knew that there are a lot of good reviews for the album out there. I just wasn’t personally fond of it. Over the next several weeks I plan on posting on albums I like from start to finish, which will probably be more alternative/rock based. Good hearing from you, Jacob!

  3. I was sniffing around for online references to Feel the Love and low and behold I discovered we have something in common. Look at my site and you’ll get the picture. Hell – it’s a great template.

I too think FTL is far and away the best song on the record, and I hope they use it as a single if they hope to sell some albums in North America. The songs bands/companies pick as singles baffles the mind sometimes, eh?

This is a link to my song “review” category if anyone cares. I’m up to almost a hundred now: http://www.davepye.com/category/wednesday-wadio
